However, now it is possible to enjoy roses for a long time thanks to the preservation technique, which maintains their beauty and properties for a long time. In many cultures, the rose is considered the quintessential flower. Delicate and with an exquisite fragrance, they have always seduced people with their beauty and colour. Unfortunately, the rose has a very short lifespan, which almost makes them luxury items. The figures don’t lie! It is estimated that in Europe alone 9 billion roses are sold!

Today, there is an almost infinite variety of roses. In the market more than a thousand varieties are sold. Did you know that the majority of these come from Holland, the country of flowers?

The rose is, in a way, comparable to yin and yang from Eastern culture: the petals symbolise positive values like love, trust, beauty and kindness, while the thorns represent the opposite: pain and difficulties.

Red rose, the most symbolic

The red rose has greater significance than the other colours. It is also one of the most universal symbols that exists. The history of red roses is legendary. Roses of this colour appear in countless works of art, poetry, music, etc. Throughout history, for many civilizations, they have been political or religious symbols.

Although, without doubt, red roses are commonly known for being the symbol of love. A bouquet of red roses is the quintessential present on Saint Valentine’s Day, to celebrate anniversaries or special and romantic days.

Red roses are the most valued, followed by white, pink and yellow roses. There are roses of all the spectrum of colours: orange, purple, blue or green. You can even find bi-coloured or multi-coloured roses, which are really beautiful and surprising.

Roses are associated with different properties, depending on their colour.
